Why isn't my dog drinking or eating, but still peeing yellow?

Why don't I see my dog drink water nor eat anything but, yet she poops and pees? Why is her pee so yellow?

This could indicate that something is wrong with Roxy. Her urine is so yellow likely because she is not drinking much water. I would recommend having her seen by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I would have her blood tested and her urine as well. Hi Adeel! It could be Roxy's diet that is causing her to not have interest in her food. First off, curd is not an acceptable diet for a puppy. It's a dairy product, and diary causes GI upset in dogs. It's never recommended to give dairy to any dog. I would not give her curd any longer. Also, 100gms of puppy food isn't very much. She likely isn't getting enough food in her diet. Read the package instructions on her food, there will be a daily recommended allotment on it. Take that daily allotment and divide it into three equal portions, once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and once in the evening. Finally, she may not like the brand of food. Brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams.

As for her urine being a bit yellow, you want it to be clear to light yellow. If it's a darker yellow, then she may not be getting enough water. Make sure she always has a source of fresh water, and you can give her canned puppy food or add water to her dry puppy food to get more into her diet. Good luck, I hope this helps!

The not eating is a little concerning and I would recommend a vet visit soon for your dog. Causes of decreased appetite in dogs may be due to a tooth issue, pancreatitis, gastritis, or perhaps an infectious cause. A veterinary visit can be rule out some of the above causes and will help pinpoint a diagnosis so he can get treated appropriately. I hope this helps and thanks again for posting!

Hello, sorry to hear about Yoda. Potential causes of this could include a severe UTI, liver disease, autoimmune disease, or kidney disease. It sounds like she should be seen by her veterinarian immediately to obtain some bloodwork and urine to rule these diseases out. In addition to the bloodwork, she may need an abdominal ultrasound and could require hospitalization depending on what is found. Hope this helps and best of luck.

My dog's pee is dark yellow, but he drinks water. What can I do?

Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I agree, that is some very dark urine which indicates he must not be drinking enough. You need to increase his water intake. The best way to do that is to add some chicken or beef broth to his food; use the low sodium kind. The added salt (even in the low sodium variety) should encourage him to drink more. If this dark urine continues for more than a few days you should take him to your vet for an exam and urine test.

Why is my dog's urine still clear after she stopped eating?

Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Urine can look deceptively clear, but still be perfectly normal. The only way to know for sure is to collect a sample of urine in a clean container & take it to your vet ( or take Scribbles to the vet for a complete check up ). We can do a quickie urinalysis that includes a measure of the dissolved solids in urine. This is a very good indication of what her overall kidney function might be. But as long as she has resumed eating & drinking, it is not an emergency, but at her age, a good check up might be in order. Take care.

My dog vomited & won't drink. Could his urine color mean dehydration?

If he's been vomiting and not drinking much, yes it is possible that he's a bit dehydrated. His urine in the picture does look a bit yellow, but if he is now drinking water and feel better, I expect he will become hydrated again in due course. It's fine to increase his water intake, and you could add some gently warmed, low sodium chicken broth to his food to help with increasing his fluid intake. I hope this helps.

My dog is peeing a lot. Could it be a urinary tract infection?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Roxy. It is always difficult to tell if puppies are having true urinary issues verses potty training problems. If she continues this behavior, she will need to see a veterinarian to see if she has a urinary tract infection. It is a more likely condition in a female pup given their anatomy. In the meantime, watch for blood in her urine and continue to take her out frequently. I hope this information helps!
