Why is my 15-year-old dog not eating, drinking, shaking, lethargic?

I think this could be a serious problem. Puppies this age and this size can get very sick very easily. He really needs to see a vet. I would be worried that he may have parvovirus or distemper virus.

Hello, sorry to hear about your pup. There are several causes for increased drinking and decreased appetite. However, it may be that he is just a bit cold. Some other causes could include anxiety. Finally underlying metabolic diseases such as kidney disease, cushings, hypothyroidism, or other forms of GI disease may cause this as well. If he continues to do this then he should be evaluated by a veterinarian. Diagnostics may include bloodwork, an abdominal x-ray, or even an ultrasound. Hope this helps and best of luck.

A dog's nose can go from cold and wet to warm and dry simply by lying in the sun or next to a heat source. It is concerning, however, that he is not eating or drinking, and is shaking and laying around. It is serious when a dog won't drink water, and I would have Brownie seen by a vet right away. This not eating and drinking could be caused by a systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. He could be shaking because he has a fever. The vet can diagnose what is causing his symptoms, and can treat him for them. I would take him into a vet right away.

The lethargy, shaking or trembling, being withdrawn, and hanging her head down certainly can indicate that she is in pain or discomfort somewhere. Not eating or drinking can also by a sign of pain or that there is a problem with her intestinal tract or other systems in her body. All of these signs do not point to one specific problem, however, they do tell us that Chloe is definitely ill. I'm sorry Paws isn't doing well at the moment! I would try offering him water. Give him a chance to drink the water, I would keep offering it to him over an hour. If he refuses to drink the water, or he drinks the water and then vomits it up, then I would take him into the ER vet. It's a pretty serious sign when a dog won't drink water or can't keep it down, and in cases like that, it's best for them to see a vet right away. Should he drink the water and keep it down, then it's fine to wait until the morning to take him into the vet. Continue to monitor him tonight, and if Paws becomes very lethargic, the shaking gets worse, he starts vomiting, or he shows any other signs of illness, then take him into an ER vet right away. This could be either because of something that is bothering him in his mouth cavity or because of an ear issue (foreign body or severe infection), you need to take Duke to the vet ASAP in order to get it checked.

Poor Princess does sound like something is off! Lethargy and anorexia are both very general signs of illness, and can be caused by things like systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. I see that she isn't spayed, and a major concern for is pyometra. This is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment. Because I can't see her in person to rule out a pyo, I would take her into a vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies.
