Newly adopted dog not eating, doing downward dog, and vomiting. Why?

It sounds as Jackson is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Marvin! Sadly I agree! If Marvin is going in the prayer position (downward dog) that indicates abdominal pain. With vomiting that makes me worried about a foreign body or pancreatitis. Very bad gas can cause abdominal pain. I would take him in for X-rays and blood work. Hi there! I'm so sorry to hear about Kylo's issues. He could definitely have a little bug from the shelter. In addition if dogs are eating things that they shouldn't, they can get an upset stomach for sure. This can definitely last for a few days. I'd be concerned if it continues and have Kylo examined by a veterinarian. The vet can make sure he doesn't need any medications for his stomach or any diagnostics like Xrays or lab work.

I recommend that you have Rocco evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. Yes, you should take her to your vet for an exam. The downward dog position is probably from some sort of pain or discomfort in her abdomen. The vomiting and not eating also goes along with that. Please take her to a vet as soon as possible.

There are many possible causes of coughing and gagging and i recommend an urgent check up given the weight loss also. Pneumonia, nose and throat issues, heart disease and stomach problems could all contribute

Severe, persistent vomiting should be assessed by a vet (especially if vomiting water for more than 12-18hours due to a risk of dehydration). It is possible he may have swallowed something while he was roaming which may have caused an obstruction or irritation. Given it happened within hours of coming home it is unlikely to be anything he contracted in the shelter
