Is my new shelter dog's vomiting just a bug from the adoption?

Congrats on your new dog, but I'm sorry Shino is sick! It could be that he may have kennel cough causing his symptoms. He may be up to date on his vaccines but he may not be vaccinated for kennel cough. I would have Shino seen by a vet first thing in the morning for this. While kennel cough is self limiting, his symptoms may be helped with medication. I can give you some stuff for at home that can do for him in conduction with medication from the vet. Any dog with kennel cough should be isolated for at least two weeks, possibly longer depending on the severity of the infection. Keep your dog in a well-humidified area, and use a harness instead of a collar to minimize coughing. Rest your dog for at least seven days to minimize irritation of the airways caused by excessive coughing. You can bring your dog into the bathroom with you while you have a shower, as the steam may help with the respiratory irritation. I hope this helps, have Shino seen by a vet tomorrow!

Stress, change of diet, parasites, etc can cause diarrhea. It can be normal for a dog that is new to the home. I would recommend giving him bland food for a couple days, such as boiled chicken and rice. If no improvement, contact your vet.

I’m sorry to hear Wrigley isn’t feeling well. Dogs often do the downward dog stance when their abdomen is painful, especially with pancreatitis. If you have only had him a week many shelters have an agreement for a short time that they will care for health concerns in that time frame. It sounds as Jackson is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

This could be just from the stress of travel but since it has been going on for 3 days it is probably time to have her checked out. Other causes of diarrhea include intestinal parasites, viruses, GI blockages, and many metabolic diseases. An examination by your vet should help determine the cause. Labored breathing and chronic vomiting are both very serious clinical signs especially when seen in concert with one another. If vomiting occurs during a labored breathing episode, Bachy could potentially aspirate the vomit and cause a serious case of pneumonia. I don't think this is something that should wait until the morning. You should give a call to your local ER vet and see what they think of the situation. They may recommend bringing him in for some oxygen therapy and diagnostic work up. I understand that you only just adopted him yesterday, but this is definitely the best possible thing to do for him at this moment.

I'm sorry to hear that Buster isn't feeling well! Vomiting and diarrhea can occur as a result of a virus, parasites, stomach upset from eating different foods or treats, among other health conditions. If he is acting normally and still able to keep water down, you can try monitoring him at home first by withholding food for 12-24 hours. After that time, offer a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and white rice for a few days, then gradually transition back to his normal diet over another 5-7 days. However, if Buster's vomiting or diarrhea worsen, or if he becomes lethargic and stops drinking, a trip to the vet will be in order to assure that he has not become dehydrated and to get to the bottom of the problem.
