My dog has nasal mites. When can he safely be around other dogs?

She is probably fine to roam around the apartment after confining her for about 72 hours of the Revolution application. I would recommend you continue with Revolution dosing every 3 weeks for a few more treatments. These mites are very contagious to other dogs but since she has been treated, the house has been treated and the other dogs are on prevention they will probably not contract the mites.

Nasal mites is a definite possibility here, although uncommon. But since they are both presenting with symptoms it has to be either something contagious, like nasal mites, or an aerosolized irritant (sprays, perfumes, chemicals, etc). Nasal mites are usually only seen using a microscope on a swab from the nose. It is easily treated in most cases with medication from your vet. It usually consists of oral Ivermectin, as long as your pets breed isn’t sensitive to it. To prevent reinfection, keep them away from other pets with symptoms of possible nasal mites, since it does require direct nose to nose contact. It's difficult to say for certain, since eggs may continue to hatch and the new adult mites could be contagious. At this point it is probably unlikely that there are adults that would be contagious so if your other dog has been treated preventatively I would think it is safe for them to be together. To be safe it would probably be best for you to wear gloves until Waffles's treatment is complete.

I would keep the new dog separated from your old dog as mites are contagious. The ivermectin injection should take care of the mites, however sometimes it takes two or three injections to completely eliminate mites. I would say 3 weeks are probably enough to keep them separate. The doxy will likely eliminate both the Ehrlichiosis and Anaplasmosis within 30 days and your dog should feel much better soon. All these diseases are very hard on your dog, so sleeping is normal. He needs to rest to heal.

Sarcoptic mange is highly contagious to other pets and even humans. The treatment can take as long as six weeks for your puppy to respond completely and, until then, I recommend limiting your exposure to her and quarantining her away from any other pets until she is recovered.
