My dog missed a booster. Can I introduce a new puppy safely?

Hello. If your first dog has been routinely vaccinated, then there should be no danger introducing him to the newcomers. If your 8 year old dog is current on vaccines, then yes, you can introduce them. Just keep the puppy away from any dogs with an unknown or incomplete vaccination history until he has been fully vaccinated at 16 weeks of age.

As long as Dallas is healthy, it should be fine for Phoenix and Dallas to interact with supervision. Try to avoid or limit any time the puppy spends outside, and do not go to dog parks or pet stores with him until he has received several sets of vaccines. Phoenix is a cutie! Your younger dog will learn their boundaries and what behaviors are acceptable and not. Before bringing your young puppy out to play in public with any other dogs, be sure that he/she is fully vaccinated (finished with his/her puppy vaccine series). It would be safer to give Mocha another dose of parvo vaccine, about 3-4 weeks after the one she just had. That will make sure that she is fully protected and she is not any danger for the new puppy.

No, you do not need to separate them. It is actually good if they are together as it helps socialisation. Just do not take your older dog to a dog park or let him meet other dogs while your puppy has not had the full course of vaccinations.

If your dog is fully vaccinated for parvo and the puppy is healthy with no abnormal signs then parvo should not be a issue. I am also assuming that your puppy has started his vaccinations, as well. If the puppy has a history of having parvo or has been exposed to parvo then you may want to delay the introduction, especially if your dog is not up to date on vaccines.
