When is it safe to introduce vaccinated stray dogs to my dog?

If your 8 year old dog is current on vaccines, then yes, you can introduce them. Just keep the puppy away from any dogs with an unknown or incomplete vaccination history until he has been fully vaccinated at 16 weeks of age.

That's so sad that someone dumped Alphonse, but how lovely of you to take him into your home! Given that the person dumped him, I would suspect it's not very likely that he has any vaccines. It seems like to me that someone who would dump a puppy wouldn't care about their health and wellbeing. I would definitely take him into the vet to get his vaccines done. There isn't a danger of repeating them in a short period of time; in fact, to get a dog his age fully vaccinated, he needs at least two series of the vaccines given four weeks apart. Since you live on a farm, I would speak to your vet about getting him the leptospirosis vaccines as well as rabies and DHPPi (distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza). Hello, and thanks for using PetCoach. The most important thing is that your dog was vaccinated for Rabies prior to this attack, and that you boostered his vaccine again afterwards. The rabies vaccine is quite effective, and boostering the vaccine after the attack will help in case one of the unvaccinated dog did have rabies. Ideally, it would be beneficial to observe all 3 dogs for 10 days after the attack, but you have done everything right with your own dog. If that third missing dog did have rabies and has since died, then the other two (unvaccinated) dogs would likely need to be euthanized, and your dog would need to be closely monitored for several months - but the risk of your dog contracting rabies with an up-to-date vaccination status is very very low. Yes, as long as the other dog is fully vaccinated this should not be a problem. If the other dog is around dog parks or goes to boarding facilities, then I would try and distance the two dogs while they are in the same household. You can bring Green Eyes into your house but you should have him seen by the veterinarian first to get flea prevention, a deworming and fecal exam and a Feline Lukemia and FIV check. You want to be certain there is nothing contagious that can be spread to your other pets (parasites can spread on clothing, pets escape...etc). Keep him separated until he is comfortable in the room and then allow slow, one on one introductions. He may be very afraid of dogs as strays generally get chased but every pet is different. Cats can take a few weeks to acclimate to each other so expect some hissing and posturing. Don't allow any of the pets to fight or get hurt. If your dog is fully vaccinated for parvo and the puppy is healthy with no abnormal signs then parvo should not be a issue. I am also assuming that your puppy has started his vaccinations, as well. If the puppy has a history of having parvo or has been exposed to parvo then you may want to delay the introduction, especially if your dog is not up to date on vaccines.
