Can I give my dog a whole slice of low-sodium deli meat as a snack?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Female | spayed | 5 years and 2 months old | 17 lbs

Is it ok to give a whole slice of low sodium deli meat to my dog as a snack/treat? Or should I give only a small peice? It's has 180 mg of sodium per slice. Her food is 0.33% sodium dry matter. (Around 180 mg. From her dry food daily)

Hello, & thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I would only give a piece of the deli meat at a time. A slice for you is almost a small meal for for a Chloe. If you do this only once a day, a slice is fine, but if she gets multiple treats a day, they really can add up fast. Take care.
