My dog wants bread. Is whole wheat bread safe? How much can I give?

Yes, dogs can eat bread, including whole wheat bread, but it is not recommended to feed him this more so than any other treat. I recommend less than 1 piece a day. The biggest concern with giving your dog bread is weight gain. Avoid giving your dog bread with butter or olive oil, which can cause gastrointestinal upset.
