Is it safe to give my dog small pieces of cheese daily for medication?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 6 lbs

I give my dog a little piece of cheese twice a day for her thyroid pills. And her pup likes it too so she gets a little also. They are Yorkshire Terriers Is that ok?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!

As long as your dogs don't have any tummy upset with the cheese (vomit or diarrhea) then it is fine to use the cheese to give them pills or as a small treat.

Have a great day!
