My young male dog's testicles are very loose. Is this normal?

That is likely just a normal aging change. Make sure the testicles appear equal in size, are not painful or unusually hard. It is common for a male dog of 5-6 years to have a scrotum that is a bit "saggy"...,,,I am the surgeon at a spay and neuter clinic and we call them "danglers" as a bit of humor. I don't know what breed your dog is, but the larger breeds (lab, golden, German shepherd, American Bulldogs, etc.) seem to appear this way more commonly than smaller breeds, but it can happen to any breed.

The picture does not show anything concerning but I would continue to monitor for any sweliing or discomfort which may indicate a painful infection or assymetry which can indicate a tumour. Rapid increase in size can occur with scrotal hernias which although rare are a surgical emergency.

When a dog, especially an older dog who's testicles have developed, is neutered, the scrotum (or the sack that the testicle is in) can have some empty space in it. This is completely normal and can get smaller with time, or stay the same. Unfortunately, Pokey absolutely must keep his collar on at all times, even when he is sleeping. The collar prevents him from biting or licking the area. Not only can he pull out his stitches and hurt himself, but he can actually cause the area to become infected. If he is not comfortable with the cone, you can get him a donut-shaped version that some dogs find more comfortable. It is very important that the collar stays on to avoid complications. If his sac looks like it has testicles in it, this is most likely due to swelling from the surgery. This is called a scrotal hematoma, and is fairly common after a [neuter surgery](https://www.petcoach.co/article/benefits-of-neutering-castrating-male-dogs-puppies). The swelling can definitely look like testicles, but it's just fluid and blood clots from the procedure. It should resolve on its own within the next 7-10 days as long as you [keep him calm and quiet](https://www.petcoach.co/article/6-ways-to-rest-your-pet-after-surgery-or-injury) and prevent him from licking at the surgical site by using an [Elizabethan collar (e-collar)](https://www.petcoach.co/article/e-collars-for-cats-dogs-types-of-collars-and-diy-options/). The testicles themselves are removed during the neuter, so they're definitely not still there. If you have any concerns about how it looks, you can always have him rechecked next week with the vet who did his surgery to make sure everything is healing as expected.

The anatomy appears incorrectly developed. Your pet may be a hermaphrodite. What you see there may actually be female genitalia that has inappropriately developed. In order to truly diagnose what is going on your pet should see a specialist. Abdominal ultrasound can be used to assess for undescended testicles. Thank you for providing pictures of Blitiz! This looks normal, you can see the scrotal skin hanging loosely after removing the testes, and over time, the skin should tighten up. It looks like the area has healed just fine, there is nothing wrong :-)

It is really hard to tell by pictures if skin is normal. I think based on the photo that Ludo does have normal testicles. The testicles can have some pigment on them. However at anytime Ludo is not acting normal, itching, abnormal urination or not eating I would recommend taking him to a vet to have them checked in person. hope that helps
