My dog has liquid-filled bumps that burst and bleed. What are they?

Pus means it's infected. I think it's a good idea to have these checked out by a vet. The vet can treated the bump that appears infected and can discuss treatment for the other bumps. It is common for them to fill and burst. I recommend showing it to your vet at your next visit. They will stick a needle in it and look at the cells under the microscope to determine. This cannot be completely assessed just by looking at pictures or a description and usually requires sampling such as fine needle aspiration to determine its origin. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. However, I would be unable to confirm this with just a description. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine the growth so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. The vet can insert a small needle into the mass and look at the fluid / cells under a microscope to help determine what it could be, a test called a fine needle aspirate with cytology. I would clean this using a combined solution of water and betadine (mix until light brown) and keep the area clean. The cyst will likely close back up now that it has ruptured. If it continues to drain material or becomes infected, then I would have a veterinarian take a look at this and plan to have it removed. I hope this helps! If there are no other signs of infection or discomfort such as scratching or biting at it, you may just drain it with your fingers and then clean the area with soapy water. If if fills up again, or she develops others, have her evaluated by your veterinarian for more thorough treatment most likely including systemic antibiotics. She is precious by the way! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The red bumps looks like a bacterial infection. I would try washing the area with mild soap and water. If they persis for 24 hours I would see a vet for antibiotics. The bump under the skin is very difficult to diagnose. I would recommend having a vet stick a needle in the lump and look at the cells under the microscope. It could just be fat cells (lipoma) but there is no way to know without diagnostics.
