What's this red spot on my puppy's lip? Pimple or ingrown hair?

It could be an infection, cyst, allergic reaction, or mass. Have your vet take a look at the bump tomdetermine the cause. Your vet can do a fine needle aspirate to diagnose and then determine the best way to treat it. He may need an antibiotic, antihistamine, corticosteroid to treat or it may need to be removed.

This could be a pimple, insect bite or viral papilloma. I would recommend keeping a close eye on this and if it worsens, I would take him in to be examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. It may just be a little boil that formed due to a mild infection or even trauma from his tooth. If it isn't bothering him then I would just keep an eye on it for the next 2-7 days to see if it resolves on its own. Most of the time these do. If it doesn't then have your vet take a look to see if treatment is needed.

Without seeing a picture of what you are describing it is difficult to say for sure what this could be. I suspect, due to Blue's age, that this could be a viral papilloma, histiocytoma or pimple-like growth. In all 3 cases, it should resolve on its own. It could be something other than these 3 possibilities. If the spot does not resolve or it worsens, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Blue to that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. This does look like a little pimple, bite or abscess, You can put a warm compress with epsom salt on it several times a day for a few minutes. If it is a little abscess or pimple it will open up and empty by itself. Neosporin likely will not be helpful as it is not an open wound. If the mass gets bigger and starts to hurt Oliver, or if it looks very angry, take him to your vet who will likely lance it, if necessary.

Typically these resolve on their own, but many more may pop up over the next few weeks on his lips and in his mouth. It could also be an inflamed hair follicle or a skin infection. If its not resolving over the next few days to weeks, or if it seems to be getting worse or causing him discomfort, please take him to your vet to be evaluated. This looks a little more like a skin growth or maybe a cyst, but it could also be a reaction to having something stuck in the lip. I would recommend keeping an eye on this area and if it does not seem to be resolving in the next 3-5 days it is more likely that it is a growth and you should have Chispita examined by your vet.
