My puppy has a sudden bump on his lip. Pimple or injury? What to do?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | 5 months and 12 days old | 4 lbs

My puppy has a bump on his lip, washed it and put Neosporin on it. Don't know if it is a pimple or an injury from wrestling with my other dog. Should I do anything else. It was not there yesterday.

This does look like a little pimple, bite or abscess, You can put a warm compress with epsom salt on it several times a day for a few minutes. If it is a little abscess or pimple it will open up and empty by itself. Neosporin likely will not be helpful as it is not an open wound.
If the mass gets bigger and starts to hurt Oliver, or if it looks very angry, take him to your vet who will likely lance it, if necessary.

That looks like a cyst or an abscess. It may be filling with liquid or pus depending on its origin. It may require drainage or to be lanced and drained. A veterinarian will be able to make this determination upon examination. If it is getting larger, even if it is not causing a bother, I would still have it checked some time soon.

Thank you for providing picture of Molly, she is beautiful, and it helps me see the bump you mentioned. In a dog her age, I would wonder if the bump was caused by trauma (soft tissue swelling), or it could be a cyst. I'm not sure how long it has been there, but if it's been there longer than a couple of days and/or it's getting bigger, have her seen by a vet for it. Otherwise, monitor it for a few days, and if it doesn't go away or gets bigger, take her into the vet. Try placing a cold compress on it a couple of times a day for five minutes at a time if she will let you to see if it helps it go down. Good luck, I hope this helps!

In the meantime, you can try keeping it clean with a dilute soap and water solution, but Brody may not like it! My dog has a red lump on his nose. Is it a pimple or something worse?

This could be from an insect bite or a wound. I would clean it with a damp cloth and then apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on it. Give it a few days to see if it's drying up and healing. If it's getting bigger then I would take Pierce in for a veterinary exam. It could be a mass but it's more likely a small area of infected skin and it will heal in a week or so. Hello, Thanks for the good picture. I agree that it does look like a solitary pimple, very well could be from an insect sting initially. I would just monitor this for now. If it spreads into many pimples, a larger sore, or an itchy rash, those would be reasons to have him seen by his veterinarian to ensure he doesn't have a skin infection that requires treatment. You can use a warm compress with saline or epsom salt water on the area for a few minutes twice per day. Otherwise, don't apply any ointments and just let it stay dry and open to air. My 6-month-old puppy has a pimple-like bump. Should I worry?

It looks like a pimple, a minor skin infection. You can use a Benzoyl peroxide topical cream or an antiseptic cream in order to help it resolve quicker, but otherwise it should resolve itself without treatment.
