Dog licked Hartz cat collar, now lethargic, shaking, not eating. Help!

Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear that Joey hasn't been feeling well. Since you suspect that the Seresto collar may have been causing his issues, you did the right thing by taking the collar off and bathing him. However, his lethargy, eye discharge, and loss of appetite could also be due to a virus (gastrointestinal or causing an upper respiratory infection), kidney disease, or many other health conditions. I'm glad to hear that he's going to the vet tomorrow because his vet will be able to examine him and perform any necessary diagnostic testing. In the meantime, continue offering small frequent amounts of Pedialyte or water, as well as trying to tempt Joey to eat with either meat baby foods, boiled chicken breast, or canned cat foods. Warming up any of these foods for a few seconds can make their aroma more noticeable, which can be enticing to some cats. I hope this helps and that Joey feels better soon!

However, regardless of what caused these symptoms, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine her. She may be dehydrated and in need of fluids, which the veterinarian can evaluate her for. I am sorry to hear that Max is going through this. I don’t know how long ago he ingested the collar but I am concerned. I would highly encourage you to have him evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible. X-rays may be recommended to look for an obstruction as well as blood work to evaluate For possible toxicity . He may not be eating due to dietary indiscretion from eating the bird or mouse or it could even be due to a gastrointestinal obstruction. I am afraid that if he is not drinking water he may be becoming dehydrated. They would be able to check for these possibilities and most importantly start him on medications to make him feel better. It is very hard to say what is the problem, as the symptoms she is showing are specific to one particular disease. I could be due to intoxication, kidney or liver disease, heart failure and many more. Extreme weakness, low body temperature and problem with the balance all suggest potentially a life-threatening problem, so please call your nearest vets right away

He may be experiencing symptoms of having a gastrointestinal obstruction though other things like dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, among other things could also be going on. For this reason, I recommend that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as soon as possible to ensure that this does not become worse and to see if he will require therapy such as surgery if he is in fact having an obstruction. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Suki! It sounds as though Suki is having a severe reaction to the PetArmour collar. The scratching may be from the fleas or from her skin burning from the collar. I am glad she is eating but the dry heaving concerns me the most. It is best for Suki to see your Vet today and have medication provided to stop the allergic reaction to the collar. I would do this before you apply anymore OTC flea products. Read the instructions on the product you purchased, some ask you to wait 2 days or longer after bathing. I would wait until Suki is 100% normal before starting any other flea drugs. You can start a bland diet for the dry heaving. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs of boiled chicken or hamburger mixed with rice for 3-5 days. If she still continues to dry heave she really should see a Veterinarian. I hope this helps and I wish Suki a speedy recovery!
