My dog ate a Seresto collar and vomited. Should I take him to the vet?

If Chockey vomited 2-3 hours after you gave the Nexgard, it is likely that the tablet was digested and that he has the preventative in his system. If he vomited shortly after you gave the tablet, it is possible that he vomited up the nexgard. If you want to use a collar this should be absolutely fine as it is more of a topical preventative and not a systemic. It sounds like he is experiencing toxic symptoms from licking this collar, and I'm concerned about him. I think it's best he sees a vet immediately. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. I'm sorry to hear that Boo hasn't been feeling well! It is possible that the permethrin spray or collars may be related to his vomiting, but other possible causes include a foreign body intestinal obstruction, virus, parasites (particularly tapeworms since they can be transmitted by ingesting infected fleas), among others. At this point, I recommend leaving his flea collar off and bathing Boo in original blue Dawn dish soap to remove any residue remaining from the permethrin sponge bath. Withhold food for the next 12 hours, then gradually offer very small frequent meals of a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and white rice for a few days. After a few days, gradually mix the bland diet with his normal food over another 5-7 days. If Boo continues to vomit, develops diarrhea, becomes lethargic or stops eating, he will need to go to his vet for further evaluation. Once he vomiting resolves, be sure that Boo is regularly receiving a high quality flea preventative, such as Nexgard, Bravecto, or K9 Advantix II. I hope that he feels better soon!

Oh no, poor Topo.I would recommend taking the citronella collar off, give him a good bath, and then monitor Topo for the next 30 minutes or so for any improvement in clinical signs. If he is still having heavy panting, vomiting and restlessness, then it is best to have him seen by an ER vet if your vet Is not available. He likely will need a steroid injection+/- antihistamine injection and possible fluids to stop the allergic reaction and flush it out of his system. It sounds as Max is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

Side effects of the collar may include the symptoms you described. Remove the collar for 24-48 hours to and see if Brewer improves. If not, have him examined by your veterinarian to diagnose illness or injury.

Mischievous Atticus! The size of the piece of blanket is not very large so hopefully none of it has become lodged anywhere in the GI tract. With any luck, he is just feeling out of sorts from the gastrointestinal upset he has caused himself to have. If you do decide to take him to the vet, regular x-rays will not say with certainly whether or not there is a partial obstruction because cloth material cannot be differentiated. Contrast material like barium is needed to do this, which is a liquid that travels through the GI tract over the course of several hours. X-rays are taken numerous times over the course of this time to see if the barium is traveling in a normal or abnormal fashion. Since he has been passing portions of it already, I am really not very worried about it. He however might really benefit from an anti-nausea and anti-diarrheal medication. While there are over the counter options, something like Cerenia which can only be obtained via prescription would be a great choice in this instance. There are also several over the counter anti diarrheals available. If the vomiting and lethargy does continue to persist for another day or so, I would say to bite the bullet and bring him in for an exam. Hope this makes sense.
