My dog is licking carpet, and has puked. He is also acting strange. I found a clothing tag in his puke

Licking the carpet can be a sign of nausea. Since he vomited up a clothing tag, I worry that he ate fabric and has a obstruction. I recommend that you take him to the Vet when they open for an exam and X-rays. If he ate fabric most of the time they need surgery to remove it. Other causes of nausea and vomiting are: viral or bacterial infections, intestinal parasites, dietary indiscretion, new food/treat/table food, food allergy/intolerance, pancreatitis, toxin ingestion, inflammatory bowel disease, kidney or liver problems.
Due to Max's age they may also want to do blood work as well. I hope this helps and I wish Max a speedy recovery!
