My dog won't get up, eat, or drink due to a painful back leg.

Poor Bella! This is a situation where you should absolutely have your pet seen by a veterinarian. They can do a physical exam to determine where and why she is painful, also blood work and x-rays could also be done. At the very least, it sounds like she needs a pain medication, which your vet can provide. Hope this helps, and best wishes.

Hi! Thanks for entrusting us with Luna's care today! Poor girl! Lameness can be a sign of a few things that range from a muscle sprain to even a fracture. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian so that this can be further assessed which will likely include radiographs. Treatment will be dependent on findings though at the very least pain control medications can be prescribed. Good luck! Hoping for a speedy recovery!

Poor Lucy! If she's not eating anything it's possible she may be in some pain. If your vet didn't prescribe pain medications, talking with them to see if that is an option may help Lucy feel well enough to eat. If she is on pain medications or other medications, these can sometimes cause some stomach upset. Offering a bland meal of boiled rice and chicken may help with minor tummy upset, however if she continues to refuse food or looks very sad and lethargic, scheduling a recheck with your vet to make sure there isn't anything else ongoing is best.

I am sorry Luna is not acting right and thanks for using pet coach. It is possible that Luna has strained a ligament or even soft tissue. I would recommend restricting her activity for two weeks. This includes being on a leash when outside and no running/jumping. However at anytime if she is getting worse or not improving I would recommend taking her to a vet for a good exam. Poor Lily. When a pet isn't showing a pain response but limping on their back leg, it could indicate that they have either torn a ligament in the joint or have a severe muscle sprain. Also if you don't notice any obvious swelling, then a fracture is likely not the cause. Rest her, no running, jumping playing and leash walk only for the next couple of weeks. You can also do cold compresses on the limb 1-2 times a day. if there is no improvement within 3-4 days, then it's best to get her seen by your veterinarian for a full exam and pet friendly pain medication. She may also need x-rays of the leg to determine the underlying injury (cause). Do not give her people pain meds however because these can be quite toxic to pets and cause major liver and/or kidney damage. It's better to get all pain and anti-inflammatory meds from your vet. Even though she isn't crying out, there is presumed inflammation at the very least, so she can benefit from medication at any time. I hope your puppy gets well soon. Best wishes.

He could have a torn the ligament in his knee, have back pain, or an arthritis flare up causing these symptoms assuming you didn’t see him get injured. I’m glad you’re taking him in soon. They will feel his hips, back and legs and may recommend x-rays. They will most likely put him on pain medication since he's probably not getting up due to discomfort. I recommend having tests done on Luna such as blood work, a urinalysis, and possibly x-rays. This can help them diagnose what is going on with her. I would take her back into a vet today, poor girl.
