My Husky is lazy and heaving after biting a deer antler. What to do?

Thanks for visiting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. If he is panting and coughing following excessive play only, then this is not a concern but a normal physiological response. However if the panting and coughing is continuous and not seen during these particular instances, and if it i has been going on for more than 3-4 days with no improvement, then he could have an upper respiratory infection which generally is easily treated with a short course of antibiotics. Lethargy and a loss of appetite are both signs of illness that can include dental disease, systemic illness, infection, or injury. Without seeing her in person, I can't narrow it down. I'd have her seen by a vet today. The vet can diagnose what is causing her symptoms and can treat her. Best of luck!

Huskies are certainly able to overheat more easily than other breeds due to their thick coat. All of the clinical signs could potentially be related to something like that as well, but could be an indication of something entirely different. If there has only been episode of vomiting and some mild lethargy, I don't think it is entirely unreasonable to take a wait and see approach. If the rapid breathing becomes even more labored or Midna actually appears to be in any true distress, I would not delay and would take her into the veterinarian as soon as possible. As of now, it sounds like she's still eating, drinking, and functioning pretty normally. Keep a close eye on Midna, particularly the breathing, and should it worsen have her looked at right away.

I would not recommend antlers as treats if Beau is able to get off chunks of the antler. If it doesn't dissolve in the stomach acid, it could cause pain in the GI tract and even cause painful constipation as it consolidates in the feces. You can continue to offer small amount of foods (maybe half of normal) for the next day or two. If Beau isn't interested in eating his food or seems painful or lethargic, or if the vomiting continues, he should be examined by a vet immediately.

I am sorry Fang is having this issue. If this was a one time thing I would say monitor him and do a bland diet (boiled chicken and white rice). If he is still having issues then I do recommend having him see a veterinarian. They can prescribe medication to make Fang feel much better. If Scooby has been lethargic and not eating, especially after eating 3 chew bones, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine him so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I would recommend having abdominal x-rays taken to see if he has developed a foreign object intestinal obstruction from the bone chews. He may also be dehydrated, have pancreatitis, etc. It is impossible for me to say for sure without examining him and performing diagnostics. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. I would recommend bringing Onyx to your veterinarian. He is going to need supportive care including fluids and medication. He may need diagnostics including x-rays looking for a foreign body or blood work looking for pancreatitis. I would not wait much longer to bring him to the vet so he doesn't get any worse.
