It is unlikely that your dog would get kennel cough without being near other dogs, although it is spread through the air so it is possible your dog was exposed to it without having direct contact with an infected dog. Coughing can be caused by a variety of diseases so your dog should be examined by a vet if she is coughing. Your vet can do an examination and diagnostic tests, if needed, to help determine the cause and best way to treat.

I'd have her change her clothes when she comes over. Viral and bacterial causes of canine cough are spread through airborne droplets produced by sneezing and coughing. These agents also spread through contact with contaminated surfaces. I hope this helps!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding George. Kennel cough is a generic term referring to an upper respiratory tract infection. Yes, this would be contagious to other dogs. I hope this information helps!
