My Yorkie has KCS. Why dry nose, drooling, and tired? Is it serious?

There may be clogged tear duct that is causing the dry eye and nose. The lacrimal duct connects the nose to the eye, so I would worry there is an obstruction. A dry eye can lead to an infection as it makes things worse. i would talk to your vet about an exam under sedation to flush the duct to see if this helps.

That could be an early stage sign of tracheal collapse, or there may be a inflammation of the trachea or first airways (throat). Tracheal collapse is quite common in yorkies and is usually diagnosed by performing a radiographic evaluation of neck and chest. I would recommend a check up as if otherwise the signs are due to an inflammatory disease, anti-inflammatory and possibly antibiotics are required. Some dogs can normally have a moderate amount of clear discharge from both eyes that can discolor the hair under the eyes a reddish-brown color. Keep Poppins' hair trimmed under her eyes and use a warm water washcloth to clean the discharge daily. However, if Poppins' eye discharge becomes yellow or green, causes squinting or redness to the eye, she will need to be examined by her vet.

The sensitivity to light is a sign of pain. I wiukd first be worried about an ulcer on the cornea. This can cause pain and a discharge and easy to test for. Glaucoma can have a big eye and a red eye, not usually squinting. An eye infection can also cause these issues along with a dry eye. Your vet can check the tear production and look for an ulcer as each one has medicine that can correct this

Too much drool, or hypersalivation, can be a sign of illness. Here are some causes: Heat stroke and heat exhaustion, nausea and anxiety can cause episodes of drooling. Mouth disease and tooth decay: Tarter buildup can rub against the inside of your dog’s lip, causing drool. To check, pull his lip back toward his ear. Do his teeth look like concrete? Are they brown? Are his gums red, swollen, or bleeding? If so, try a professional cleaning and then daily brushing. Your vet can check for gingivitis, mouth ulcers, and tumors as well. Poisonous plants: Common plants like tulips, azaleas, and chrysanthemums can not only make your dog drool, but also make him sick. Keep your dog from eating them. Excessive drooling can be caused by mouth problem (bad teeth, abscesses, wounds, blisters on the gums), stomach diseases (excessive acid production, reflux), infections, pain, nausea and more. Please, take Daisy to your local vets for an appointment. Excessive drooling should be always investigated and treated as required.
