My 7-month pitbull jumps, barks, and steals food. How to train?

She sounds like she's a high energy, probably very intelligent dog and she needs a job. Make sure to get her out for lots of exercise, take her with you wherever you can, get her into obedience training, agility, take her to the dog park, go for long walks, runs, play fetch, anything and everything you can do to wear down her energy levels. A tired dog is a happy dog. Try using a puzzle feeder or slow feeder to make her meals more challenging and mentally stimulating. Also consider getting her a Kong toy to chew during times you'd like her to be calmer and quiet. They are durable, heavy rubber and can be stuffed with peanut butter to occupy a dog for longer periods of time. If these suggestions don't have enough of an effect to make her more settled, consider hiring a trainer that specializes in behavioral issues. Make sure to ask them what methods they use and only hire someone that uses only positive reinforcement in their training.

This is a training/behavior issue. You can get him neutered to start. You will need to enforce the rules and reward him when he does well. If he jumps in the table, then he needs to stay in a kennel during that time until he learns what is expected. When he growls or bites it is important to stop and correct him right then so he understands. Make sure he has plenty of toys to bite and chew to help with boredom You may need to consult a training that can come to your house to help or talk to your vet about medication to help while he is in training.

The answer very much depends on why he's aggressive (fear-based, territorial, play-based, etc) but my general recommendations are to stop ALL punishments, avoid anything that is causing aggression, and never allow him around children. Then you need to find a veterinary behaviorist to work with who can go over a detailed history and diagnosis and treat his issues. If you are unable to find a veterinary behaviorist, your vet may be able to start him on medications and talk about some behavior modification.

Gradually desensitizing her to strangers should decrease her reaction. Take her to the park and other public areas for ever increasing periods of time to acclimate her to different people. Correct any negative behavior immediately and praise her when she complies. Be firm and be consistent. Teaching her to stop taking food from people will require basic obedience training. Consider formal training with a certified trainer. Teach the "no bark" and "leave it" commands. Always correct negative behaviors right away and praise good behavior. Automatic litter box cleaners will keep cat poop away from her. Review her diet with your veterinarian to rule out nutritional deficiency. If you can restrict her access to the room while allowing the cat in, that may help also.

It is normal for puppies to jump and use their mouths to get what that want. Unfortunately, the habits that Rex has developed work for him, so there is no reason for him to change as he gets older. So, if you want to change his behavior, you will need to train him to do what you want. That does not come naturally to dogs, so you will need to train him to take food gently, not jump up for it and not jump and bite with excitement on a walk. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. It sounds like he is very good motivated. I would use this to your advantage and make him “earn to play”. This means he must behave in order to get a treat or reward for everything. For instance, he must sit before you Put food down, he must sit before you go outside and before you give him a treat. Some dogs are food motivated and their lives revolve around food. Unfortunately this is difficult to change as it is a personality trait but you can use this in your favor for training. He is still young and will get better as he ages. You can put a citronella bark collar when he is outside to help with the incessant barking. I hope this helps!

This is normal puppy behavior but it does require training. Also remember that Charolett is a puppy so you should expect the training process to be slow and that she may revert sometimes. I recommend to read up on dogs training. There is a trainer I like named Victoria Stilwell who has written many books about common bad behaviors and training. Generally this behavior is addressed by being on a leash and counter training. I hope this helps.
