My dog is itching, fur sticking up, and has a bump. What's wrong?

It may be a skin growth or cyst that is forming since it is different and lasting longer. With the thinning hair coat in some photos i would be concerned you have a skin infection that is contributing to the bumps and it is spreading and affected this hair follicle. I would have your vet check to see if it is infected as this will need antibiotics to clear it up. They can also check for any further parasites or an allergy

There are a variety of causes for this, such as trauma, infection (bacterial or fungal), an immune disease or a type of skin cancer. I would recommend Zeus be evaluated by his regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for his skin lesions, and start any treatment (antibiotics, anti-itch medication, anti-inflammatory) that he may need to resolve it. Lesions like those in the pictures can be caused by bacterial, parasitic or fungal infection, dietary or environmental allergies or sensitivities, immune system disorders, or a combination of the above. In dogs like yours with hair loss and itchiness, one common cause can be infection by mites that can live in the hair follicles and lead to hair loss, and secondary bacterial and fungal infections that can develop. I recommend making an appointment to have your dog seen by your veterinarian to help determine the cause of the hair loss as soon as you can. The vet will likely want to look at a sample from the area (taken by a procedure known as a skin scraping) and examined under the microscope to determine what kind(s) of infection may be present and to figure out what medication is appropriate for treatment. This looks like a little skin wart which are usually nothing to worry about. It doesn't look red or infected at the moment. It could be that she has an underlying skin allergy that is causing the itching. If you are worried you should take her to the vet for an examination. Alternatively you could try giving her a daily antihistamine to see if that settles the itch.

It's a little difficult to tell from your picture, but I think the spot on the muzzle looks more like a skin mass or growth that could be infected or inflamed. The other spots look like they might be signs of a bacterial or fungal skin infection which can occur secondary to allergies. I'd recommend having your vet take a look in person.

Sadly they can all look like this. I would take Ace to the Vet and have his skin looked at. A skin infection tends to be easy to diagnose visually. Demodex requires a skin scrape and ringworm is a fungus that needs to be cultured. I wish Ace a speedy recovery!

Those spots on Basil could be several things including allergies, skin parasites, endocrine disease or a bacterial infection. He looks very irritated and I recommend to have him examined by the veterinarian for appropriate testing and treatment. That bump could be related to the underlying cause of the skin issues but an ingrown hair or even skin tumor is possible (time will tell). At home, you can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing his diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. Protect the areas from scratching by having him wear an elizabethan collar if needed.
