Why does my dog have bumps and a dry spot on his skin suddenly?

I would encourage you to check in with your veterinarian to check for this possibility so that therapy can be used accordingly. This can be caused by a localized skin infection, an infestation with mites or fleas, or even an allergic reaction. It is likely that these conditions may be causing Hump to be itchy, and she may be having these scabs from scratching. A vet can perform some tests including blood work, and taking some samples from Hump's skin to figure out what is going on and prescribe an appropriate treatment plan. I hope this helps!

If he's had this before and had antibiotics that worked, I suspect it's a bacterial skin infection. I'd take him back into the vet in the morning. Any bump or mass on a dog should be examined by a veterinarian in person. Your vet can perform an exam and a fine-needle aspirate of the mass - where he/she uses a needle and syringe to sample cells from the mass and look at them under a microscope.
