My dog has an unexplained hole below his penis tip. Should I worry?

If at any point it starts bleeding or releasing a discharge or becomes bloody or painful, have him evaluated by your veterinarian at that point for further assessment. This presentation could be due to a trauma and localized secondary skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking/scratching. Hello. Poor baby. He needs to see a veterinarian as soon as possible. I cannot tell if this is a tumor or somehow the penis has been trapped outside the sheath. Either way, he needs immediate care, especially if whatever is going on prevents him from urinating properly. This looks very painful & I hope you can have him seen quickly. If Tomy sat in something irritating, it may have lead to him licking and chewing at his scrotum. I would recommend getting a plastic cone and placing this around his head and using an ointment such as Sentry Wound Cream which can be found online or at your local PetCo. If the wound does not improve or it worsens, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Tomy so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps! I don't think you need to freak out about it. It does not look concerning. It may just be a plugged hair follicle or a small cyst. I suggest you use these medicated pads on the affected area once or twice a day. If after a week or so, if there is no improvement, then he should see your vet. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be a benign or malignant growth. There is no way of knowing what it is just based on its appearance. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. This is not going to away on its own and needs attention.
