What to do when your dog hides under the bed and won't come out?

I would recommend monitoring her for the next 2-3 days, allow her to rest and not play hard. If she continues to cower and hide, then I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at her to help better determine what could be going on. I hope this helps! It could be that something scared Roxie, or she may be ill. Without any further symptoms, I can't say for sure what is causing her to hide under the table, but I would let her be for now. She will come out when she is ready, but if she continues to hide there for a couple of hours, when I would try to tempt her out with some treats or boiled white meat chicken (no bones). You can take her into the vet if you are concerned she is ill.

Hi, sorry you are having this problem with Chiquita. Sometimes dogs exhibiting this behavior are in some kind of pain. the not eating is concerning that she may have a health issue as well. I would take her to the vet and have a check up to make sure nothing is wrong with her, If she is healthy, you can try using treats to coax her out of your room. It is possible something happened to her that scared her or caused her pain and it will take some time for her to get over it. Be gentle and patient and go slow with her to show her that there is nothing to be afraid of. If you bring her food to her and she won't eat, she will need to see a vet. Good luck, I hope this help!

Hello, thank you for your question. This is not uncommon after a traumatic event, especially since cats are very sensitive to stressful events. I would allow your cat time to recover from this event and recommend allowing her to come out from under the bed at her own pace. She may be more likely to come out sooner if the dog is not in a similar location, so you could try confining your dog for a brief period of time. This can take a long time and patience to fix. Start with having Chloe on the leash and go into the kitchen and give her treats. Ask her to sit, walk in and out of the room and give lots of praise and treats. Then have her sit with you in the kitchen while you are petting her until she relaxes. After doing this for several days hopefully she will be able to walk into the kitchen, eat treats and be relaxed. Then bring her into the kitchen and have her sit with you when someone else starts cooking. Keep feeding her treats and pet her. She only needs to stay there for a few minutes to start then gradually increase the time. You want her to associate getting tasty treats with being in the kitchen, and with you praising and petting her for staying there. As she gets more relaxed you can try shutting the bedroom door also so she can't get in there to hide. She should improve but this may take some time. There is no way to know exactly why Mya is exhibiting this new behavior. It could be as simple as she is just too hot in the bed, or feels nervous about jumping up or down, etc. As long as she seems completely normal otherwise, and has no vomiting, diarrhea, or other medical issues going on, I would try not to worry too much about it. It could be that he was pretty traumatized by the attack, and that's why he's hiding more and trying to isolate himself. But it could also be related to a medical problem, as he may be hiding away because he doesn't feel well. Given his recent attack and the fact this behavior has increased since the attack, it would be a good idea to have him seen by a vet for a health check. The vet can diagnose if there is a medical illness behind his behavior, and can discuss treatment options with you.
