What is this hard growth on my dog's skin? When should I see a vet?

My dog has a hard growth coming out of jis skin

Thank you for including the pictures. Hard keratin growths such as what Max likely has are typically benign, but can be annoying. I will typically just numb up the area and remove it so it doesn’t get caught or rip off. I would encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian soon.     This may just be a benign keratin growth, but I imagine it might start to get Uncomfortable. I would encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian and consider having it removed. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
