Why is my dog getting small wart-like bumps all over his body?

I would guess that Max's 'warts' might actually be skin growths known as adenomas, which are benign skin tumors that look very similar to a wart. Dogs can also develop contagious papillomas around their mouths, ears and feet which are more like typical warts but these are not as common. I would recommend making an appointment to see your veterinarian to have them take a look and determine whether or not there is any concern.

I'm glad that Wilson is not bothered by these skin lesions, but the bumps are a bit unusual. They do not closely resemble papillomatous warts. It is possible that he may have a mild bacterial skin infection, but begin or malignant masses, ingrown hairs, immune-mediated condition and fungal infections must also be considered. The only way to diagnose the cause of these lesions is by performing microscopic cytology. Your best bet is to take Wilson to his vet for evaluation so that appropriate medication can be started. I do not recommend using an over the counter topical medication because it may not be the appropriate medication to treat his current issue and topical medications should not be ingested (and it would be impossible to keep him from licking his lips!). Mast cell tumors are very uncommon in young dogs, so if the masses look like viral papillomas, those would be more common in a 9 month old puppy. Viral papillomas have a pretty characteristic appearance, but it is always a good idea to have your vet examine Daphne and make the diagnosis. What are these wart-like growths on my 5-year-old Lhasa Apso's skin?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! As dogs age, they can develop wart-like growths known as adenomas which are benign (non-cancerous) growths. These can be monitored, but if they start bleeding, become infected or she starts scratching at them they can need to be removed. I would recommend she be seen by her regular veterinarian to determine if these are benign wart-like growths, or if they are something more concerning (such as a mast cell tumor). Good luck!

These look like juvenile warts (oral papilloma). Such warts are caused by a virus, they are self-limiting and and will go away by themselves eventually within a few months. They will need veterinary attention if they increase significantly in size or amount or start bleeding, get infected, or cause other problems.

Hello there. We call these "old man warts". So I am curious if maybe your dog is a bit older than 4.5 years old. Regardless, these growths usually occur in these breed-types of dogs and are NOT a cancerous process. However, sometimes they can be irritating to the dog themselves and they may scratch or bite at them. If this is the case, they can bleed and/or become infected and should be surgically removed by your veterinarian simply because they are irritating to Patch. If they are not bothering Patch at this time, I would recommend to continue to monitor them and let your veterinarian know about them the next time Patch is in for a visit.

It's impossible to say for sure without seeing the growths you're talking about, but the most common skin growths on older toy poodles are sebaceous adenomas - these look like small, raised, irregular pink growths on the skin. These are not "warts," which have a different underlying cause altogether - they are benign tumors arising from oil glands in the skin. There is no medical way to get rid of them - the only thing that can be done is surgical removal by your veterinarian. I would recommend having your vet take a look at these growths to see if they are indeed sebaceous adenomas or something else. He/she can advise you on treatment options, and whether surgical removal would be recommended or not, depending on what is found.

Why are my dog's pink chin bumps turning black and not going away?

These could be harmless skin growths like adenoma/warts. They could also be cysts(again usually not harmful) as well as infected glands. Sometimes monitoring them and watching for any change in their color, size, or any discharge from them is ok. If they have any of those changes then Millie would need to be seen by a veterinarian. I would not recommend applying any topical ointment to them at this time.
