Poor Waldo! Lack of bowel movements is definitely cause for concern - it can be an indication of an intestinal obstruction. It is possible that Waldo ate something else from the trash that may have resulted in this. Waldo should be seen by a vet right away, especially because you think he is not acting like himself. They can perform an exam with abdominal palpation, bloodwork, and X-rays to determine exactly what is going on and provide appropriate supportive care such as IV fluids. Hello, sorry to hear about Bailee. When pets are having abnormal GI signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, and a decreased appetite then we can see different changes in coloration of their stool. You should continue to monitor these changes for worsening bowel movements or diarrhea, loss of appetite and vomiting. Stool color can be altered by changes in food, especially if colors are added by the manufacturer, intestinal parasites, and intestinal bleeding. Intestinal bleeding can be caused by ulcers, parasites, or conditions such as IBD. This changes the color of the stool due to products of blood digestion, which are black to dark green in color. Kidney conditions can cause gastric ulcers as certain toxic compounds build up in the body and alter acid production of the stomach. I doubt the number of chocolate chips in 1-2 chocolate chip cookies would be enough to cause chocolate toxicity, however any rich food can potentially trigger vomiting and diarrhea in dogs. If he seems otherwise fine you can monitor him during the day: I would only allow him to drink small amounts of water at a time and would not recommend feeding until this evening. If he vomits again, or if he has more diarrhea that has a red tinge to it I would recommend seeing an emergency veterinarian.

Poor Lily has been through a lot! The charcoal can be responsible for the color of her stools, and she may have some stomach upset from the charcoal leading her to have a decrease in appetite. Try offering her some boiled white meat chicken (no bones or skin) and white rice. If she isn't back to eating as normal in another 24-48 hours, then I would be concerned and give her vet a call. You can try her on a bland diet of white meat and rice or Hill’ s gastro-intestinal formula for a couple of days, and some probiotics such as Canikur or Protekin Prokolin and see if things settle over the next 3-4 days. If she should still pass soft feaces then it’s best you bring in a feacal sample to your vet to be examined for parasites and bacteria.

It is likely that most of the caffeine and theobromine will have been digested and absorbed prior to defecation. I would monitor for any symptoms in the other dog to be on the safe side.
