My dog has green eye discharge. Should I wait for the vet or go now?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 10 years old | 75 lbs

I noticed today that my female lab has a small amount of green discharge coming from her right eye. It is a light green color and about not free flowing. Do I wait to take her in to the vet for her scheduled appointment this Saturday or should she go in today?

If the eye is not too uncomfortable and the only abnormality is the green discharge she should be ok to wait until Saturday. However if she is in pain, pawing at the eye or squinting, best to have the eye checked over sooner rather than later.
