Should I worry if my dog has green eye discharge every hour?

These signs can indicate a corneal ulcer or abrasion as a result of the trauma. However, if he does not seem bothered by the eye and the discharge is improving, you can continue monitoring it for changes through the weekend. In the meantime, out an Elizabethan collar or cone on Archie to prevent any further damage. Avoid putting anything in the eye, but you can use warm water to clean the discharge from under his eye.

If the eye is not too uncomfortable and the only abnormality is the green discharge she should be ok to wait until Saturday. However if she is in pain, pawing at the eye or squinting, best to have the eye checked over sooner rather than later.

It sounds as Neah is suffering from an eye infection, it is relatively common in dogs. you will need to take her to the vet the first chance you get, the vet will check the eyes, if it is indeed a simple eye infection your vet will prescribe an antibiotic eye drops that will probably solve the problem in no time.

Hi there, It is possible that Jackson has an eye infection. I also worry about older Shih Tzu's developing dry eye, or keratoconjunctivitis sicca. This causes redness and green discharge from the eye. It does require life long eye medications. The redness in the eye and the squinting is a sign of pain. I think this likely has nothing to do with his collapsing trachea or bronchitis, but I suppose a seasonal allergy component is possible here if his eyes are truly infected and it's not dry eye. I would recommend getting Jackson to a vet sometime in the next two days, and going to a different vet clinic if that's what you need to do to have him seen and his eye pain controlled. The eye lids appear very red and with the history of the runny eye discharge with a sudden onset, there could be a scratch on the cornea or a foreign object trapped under the eye lid. An allergic reaction is also possible. Corneal scratches and foreign objects in the eye are uncomfortable and can get worse quickly. Chester needs to wear an elizabethan collar at all times and he should be examined today by the veterinarian for correct diagnosis and treatment. I hope this helps.

If you are seeing green eye discharge in Chacha's eyes, this could indicate there is a problem such as dry eye, which should be diagnosed / treated by a veterinarian. There is specific treatment for dry eye that you will not find over the counter (Optimmune ointment or Tacrolimus ointment) which helps stimulate tear production. The over the counter products simply lubricate the eyes and do not last long enough. You can try an over the counter dry eye medication for dogs such as OPTIXCARE, which you can find online.
