My dog has gas, burping, and odd poop color. Is he okay? What to feed?

If negative, I would recommend changing her diet to something less rich. In the US, I recommend Science Diet or Purina One Smartblend. The tar like appearance to his stool is likely due to digested blood, indicating bleeding in the GI tract of some kind (a growth, an ulcer, secondary to toxin ingestion, etc.). I would have him seen, have any necessary testing done (X-rays, bloodwork), and get started on treatment to resolve his issues (GI protectant, anti-nausea medication, anti-diarrheal, antacids, for example). I think that if this continues, Zekie should be evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They may be able to look into this so that it can be treated. Further diagnostics would include general labwork and abdominal imaging. You can try giving him a bland diet such as one composed mainly of boiled chicken and white rice to entice his appetite. This can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Jack evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Khaleesi! If she is eating well, normal energy and isn't vomiting I don't think you need to rush her off to the Vet. If the stool continues to look like that schedule an appointment with your Vet when they open tomorrow. Blood indicates inflammation in the colon. Causes can be from intestinal parasites. medications, viral or bacterial infection, dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis, food allergy/intolerance, new food/treat/human food. If the diarrhea is severe and she is having accidents consider fasting her for 12-24 hours then start a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day until 2 normal stools. I hope this helps and I wish you and Khaleesi the very best!
