Why do my dog's front legs shake when sitting but he walks normally?

Shaking is usually a sign of pain, according to the symptoms I can't be sure where the pain is coming from, possibly from his hips but it could be from somewhere else. I strongly recommend that you take him to the vet ASAP in order to get it checked and treated.

Hi! Thanks for entrusting us with Bentley's care today! Lameness and/or possible leg pain and shaking can be a sign of a few things that range from a muscle sprain to even a fracture. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian so that this can be further assessed which will likely include radiographs. Most likely it is not related to anything and is only incidental. However, this can only be confirmed after a physical exam by your veterinarian. If it persists or worsens, I would suggest a check up to assess if there is any sign of [elbow dysplasia](https://www.petcoach.co/dog/condition/elbow-dysplasia/), [panosteitis](https://www.petcoach.co/dog/condition/panosteitis/) or other condition/injury, as pain can cause shaking in dogs.

It sounds like Simba was painful if he was favoring one leg. I recommend resting him for the next 48 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Take him out to toilet on a leash, and bring him right back in when he's done. If he still appears painful after this time, then I would take him into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. He may also benefit from some pain medications, which the vet can prescribe. If you have done a thorough check of his leg and are finding nothing wrong with Chief and he is walking on the leg just fine, I would monitor this for now. I have seen this in quite a few puppies and when I examined the puppy further, I found nothing wrong and it resolved on its own. If Chief begins to show signs of pain / discomfort, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine him so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. It looks like Chief is about 12 weeks of age, so at this age he still needs to go through the remainder of his puppy vaccinations. At his next vaccination appointment, I would discuss this further with the examining veterinarian. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. So your dog has arthritis in the right hip and a subluxation in the left hip. He may be shaking due to pain from these problems, and he may need pain medications. Do NOT give him any human pain medications. Many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. Take him into the vet to get pain medications. Best of luck.

I recommend Salty to see his veterinarian to check for any abnormalities in the leg and spine. Arthritis, fibrosis and other problems that could cause pain or instability can cause the leg to shake. The doctor will also check the nerves within the leg to make sure they are responding normally. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.
