My puppy fell, crying, won't eat. Does he need a vet for his jaw?

He is probably still sore. If he’s playful and eating I would just give him a few more days to heal. Puppies generally heal quickly. If the pain continues more than another few days or he’s not acting right please take him in for an exam and treatment. I would bring him to be seen by a vet if he still is painful after his nap. They will be able to isolate the source (leg sprain or fracture vs injury to a rib vs. back pain) and get his medication to be more comfortable. If they are worried they may take an x-ray. Hope beau is feeling better soon!

I always advise that if an abnormal sign or behavior persists, worsens or other signs develop to always have your pet evaluated by your veterinarian right away. The fall may have caused some soft tissue/bone injuries or even internal injuries that are causing her problems. Also, she could be suffering from something unrelated to the fall. Your vet can examine her after gathering a history and then advise you on diagnostics/treatment. Possible tests include fecal/blood/urine tests and x-rays. Good luck

If he is crying, he is pain. I absolutely DO NOT recommend you give him any medication at home. Dogs can be very sensitive to human over the counter medications and these medications can interfere with what the vet wants to give him tomorrow. He will be fine for one day. Just don't try to touch the face/jaw and give him some soft foods to eat (if he will eat). I am a bit worried that he may have a fractured (broken) jaw or an infected tooth.

Your poodle needs to be seen by a veterinarian. He needs to at least drink, so you can syringe water into him so he does not dehydrate. His jaw will need to be surgically fixated which actually is not a serious surgery provided it is not shattered. He will be fine not eating until tomorrow when you can take him to a veterinarian for an exam and treatment.

Poor Oswald! If he is shaking from the pain and not able to eat then you could take him to an emergency clinic for an exam and treatment. He could have a bad tooth that is causing him a lot of pain and may need medications to help relieve the pain. Pain medication would make him a lot more comfortable overnight until his regular appointment tomorrow. You could also call your vet and give him/her an update and see if he/she would just prescribe a pain medication for tonight. Hope he feels better soon!
