Should I feed my dog wet and dry food separately or together?

It's very difficult to give an answer for this question as different brands have different feeding instructions, i usually recommend feeding half the recommended amount of both, this way you should more or less reach the correct feeding amount, the portions size is indicated on the food label for both dry and wet food.

Yes this is fine to do. Slowly replace some of the dry food with wet food, starting with just a teaspoon and working up to however much Duncan needs over 3-5 days. Most commercially available canned foods are still balanced diets. As long as Zoey is eating a food formulated for growing puppies, she should still be meeting all of her nutritional needs. However, being a small breed dog, she is naturally more prone to developing dental issues as she ages. Dry food is a bit more abrasive to the teeth, which will help to decrease tartar formation. You can try mixing a small amount of dry food with her wet food to try to tempt her to eat it. Otherwise, be sure to brush her teeth daily to maintain oral health. Be sure that you are feeding a high quality brand of food (Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Royal Canin are some of my favorites), and keep Zoey on puppy food until she is 1 year old. Anytime you change flavors or brands of food, mix the old and new foods together over 5-7 days for a slower transition to decrease the incidence of vomiting and diarrhea. Wet food should be just fine provided that you stay on top of brushing her teeth. :-) I hope that all goes well!

Hi there. I would recommend feeding both, but make sure it's a diet made for small breed dogs and is high quality. There are a variety of brands available, some good ones are Royal Canin, Natural Balance, Taste of the Wild but you may also want to ask your vet's advice so they can make a recommendation based on your pet's needs. It is not typically not a problem to offer to different brands of food especially if you are using small amounts of canned food to entice her appetite. If you cannot find a large breed puppy formula canned food, then I would use an adult version. Being a giant breed dog, you what her to grow very slowly. As with any diet change, monitor for any vomiting and diarrhea. Problems are usually seen when abruptly switching from one dry brand to another without mixing the food or going from dry kibble to strictly wet food again without a gradual transition.
