Can I mix different dry and wet dog food brands for my picky puppy?

Hello! I would recommend feeding her a large breed puppy food for the first 1.5 to 2 years of life. I like the brands Purina, Royal Canin, and Hill's. A diet specifically made for large breeds will be the best for her bone growth. You can try to make kibble more enticing by adding warm water or low sodium chicken broth. I do not recommend any grain free or raw diets as they are clinically associated with nutritional problems in dogs. I hope this is helpful! Most commercially available canned foods are still balanced diets. As long as Zoey is eating a food formulated for growing puppies, she should still be meeting all of her nutritional needs. However, being a small breed dog, she is naturally more prone to developing dental issues as she ages. Dry food is a bit more abrasive to the teeth, which will help to decrease tartar formation. You can try mixing a small amount of dry food with her wet food to try to tempt her to eat it. Otherwise, be sure to brush her teeth daily to maintain oral health. Be sure that you are feeding a high quality brand of food (Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Royal Canin are some of my favorites), and keep Zoey on puppy food until she is 1 year old. Anytime you change flavors or brands of food, mix the old and new foods together over 5-7 days for a slower transition to decrease the incidence of vomiting and diarrhea. Wet food should be just fine provided that you stay on top of brushing her teeth. :-) I hope that all goes well!

The brand doesn't matter but is always a good practice to change food gradually. Abrupt changes to Leo's diet could result in gastrointestinal disturbances that lead to vomiting and/or diarrhea. Hello, sorry to hear about Norik. Yes you can mix the dog food, however I would be more concerned with him not wanting to eat. This could be a sign the Norik may be feeling sick. Monitor for any vomiting, diarrhea, or lethargy and if you note any or this problem persists have him evaluated by your veterinarian. It could be a simple cold or something more sever such as parvovirus. Otherwise, if Norik has not been dewormed then his clinical signs may be associated with parasites. In the interim you can try a different puppy food, or you may add baby food to his puppy food in order to entice him to eat. Best of luck and hope this helps

Some dogs can be very picky, and if Brownie enjoys eating food with a little wet food mixed in, that's not a problem. Many brands of dry dog food also carry equivalent wet foods, and you can mix that in while still providing a balanced diet that is healthy for Brownie to eat. If you do add in wet food, you may just want to decrease the amount of dry food slightly to account for the increase in calories for adding extras.

You might consider soaking the dog food to make it softer/easier to eat since he is still young. Mixing a small amount of rice or cooked chicken breast or lean ground beef may entice him we just don't want him to fill up on those alone. I am not familiar with the Canine Creek food, be sure it is appropriate for puppies or switch to the Royal Canin puppy food as this is a reliable/trustworthy brand.

It's fine to mix together wet food and dry food for Buddy. Each brand of food has a different daily recommended allotment, so read the instructions on his food to know how much to feed him. Best of luck.
