My dog's eye ulcer made it blue and cloudy. Will it damage his eye?

Blue and cloudy discoloration could be due to an inflammation and accumulation of fluid in the anterior chamber of the eye. It is impossible for us to tell whether the eye is improving or not as a physical examination would be needed. After surgery a certain grade of inflammation is expected anyway. I would recommend a check up to make sure there is no deterioration of the corneal indolent ulcer.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Gizmo! The cloudiness likely just indicated the edema in the cornea. That can go away quickly. Superficial (not deep) corneal ulcers heal in 5-7 days. Since you can still see the ulcer and since it was deep I do not think the ulcer itself is healed yet, just the surrounding cornea. You won't know how it is healing just by looking. We used lights, special stain, and small magnifiers to get a really good look at the eye. Blue appearance means that the cornea is swollen. Red in the white part of the eye is inflammation, which is normal. Red in other parts of the eye may not be normal. Definitely keep your appointment on Saturday. Also, if they didn't give you one, I recommend wearing an e-collar, since dogs often will rub their eyes when there is discomfort, and this rubbing can delay healing.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If Brian is under Veterinary care and is receiving antibiotic eye drops prescribed by your vet then the ulcer should heal. Most uncomplicated ulcers heal with in 5-7 days. You should recheck with your Vet to be sure it has healed. I do not think cold air caused the ulcer or will make it worse. Dust, running into branches or other plant material may have caused the original injury so I would leash walk him and don't leave him outdoors long unsupervised until the eye has healed. This is likely to be due to a corneal ulceration, possibly due the enrolling of the lower eyelid and its rubbing against the eye surface. The blue discoloration is due to the presence of inflammation in the anterior chamber of the eye. The other signs seems to be related to the ulcer. I would recommend another check up to determine the underlying cause of it more specifically and give appropriate treatment. Serum and antibiotic eye drops will be needed.

It looks like Pebbles most likely has an ulcer on her cornea. Most of the times these are caused by trauma (being scratched by another animal, bumping the into something, plant material, etc.). These can be serious and get worse very quickly. I would recommend taking her to a veterinarian to have it checked and start treatment right away.
