My dog has a lot of tearing and thick eye mucus. What should I do?

It looks as Lady is suffering from an eye infection, it is relatively common in dogs. you will need to take her to the vet the first chance you get, the vet will check the eyes, if it is indeed a simple eye infection your vet will prescribe an antibiotic eye drops that will probably solve the problem in no time.

That is pretty significant discharge that Nola has around her eyes. This is likely secondary to an infection (eye or upper respiratory) or even an allergy. It would be best to have Nola examined by a veterinarian because she may need medicated eye drops or even an oral antibiotic to treat the eyes. It's always better to have a dog seen if there are eye issues going on as it can progress to more serious issues quickly. You may use a sterile saline solution to rinse Nola's eyes but I don't think that will resolve the issue. So again, it's really the best idea to have Nola evaluated by your veterinarian. Poor Pippa! I definitely see the discharge in the inner corner of her eye, and a little bit of redness. You should definitely have her examined by a vet as soon as possible, because eye issues can turn into emergencies very quickly. The discharge can be due to conjunctivitis, a foreign body, or even a scratch in the cornea (this condition is dangerous as it can quickly progress and even cause a dog to lose their eye). In the meantime, you can get Pippa an E-collar (or "cone") to prevent her from scratching the eye and causing further damage and apply artificial tears to the eye two to three times per day. Oso likely has an eye infection and I recommend to have him seen by his veterinarian. He will likely get antibiotic eye drops and the doctor may check for a scratch on the cornea as well. Make sure Oso is not rubbing at the eye as this can make it worse. An Elizabethan collar can help to keep the eye safe. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Isabella needs to be examined by the veterinarian today. Signs like this are concerning for a scratch on the eye or something trapped in the eye. These conditions are not only very painful but they can also get worse quickly. She also needs to wear an elizabethan collar at all times to stop any rubbing. Have her examined quickly so she is out of pain and gets the correct treatment.

She could have a problem with her tear duct, allergies, or it might be that she has a hair, eyelash or something causing irritation. Since this is a chronic problem, she should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. Your vet can prescribe an anti-histamine, antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, or other medications, if needed.
