My dog's eye is half-closed and sunken after being hit. Is it serious?

I would take Scruff into a vet now. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. It's clearly hurting him if he won't open his eye, so please have him see a vet right away. Best of luck.

Poor Dingo ! These eye injuries are very painful ! It is advisable that you have him checked over, if nothing serious happened to the eye, he will likely need some pain relief over the next couple of days.

It's not possible know exactly what's happening with the eye, but it's definitely hurting badly if it's swollen shut. It could have gotten hurt from something hitting the eye, or she has an infection in the eye, or in the tissues surrounding the eye. The only way to tell what this is, is to have a veterinarian examine the eye. I recommend having this done in the next 24 hours to help prevent her from being in pain and possibly save the eye from irreparable damage. I hope that helps and Dogz gets better soon.

It is possible the collision may have caused injury or swelling to the face or surface of the eye. Eye injuries can be extremely painful and should be treated as soon as possible to reduce pain and scarring which may affect vision

Lucas is so cute! His eye could have been injured playing with his sister, or he could be getting an eye infection. He will need to see a vet as soon as possible for this problem. I am so glad Buckshot came home. It is hard to tell what happened to him while he was away from home but that injury looks pretty serious and needs to be examined by a vet as soon as possible. He could have injured it a number of ways. The big concern, is if he was struck by a vehicle he may have further injuries that are not visible to you. An impact can cause serious internal injuries that may not cause immediate death or notable Illness to an untrained person but are serious nonetheless. Please, get Buckshot examined by a vet as soon as you can. Better safe than sorry. It’s too bad our dogs can’t tell us what they have been through. I hope everything is minor and he heals up quickly.
