My dog got hit in the eye playing fetch. Is his eye injured?

Monitor for scratching or pawing, excess weeping or tearing, redness, swelling or squinting. If any of these symptoms are noted, he needs to see a vet as soon as possible to diagnose and treat a potential eye injury. Put an e-collar on him until he goes to the doctor.

Eye injuries are considered emergencies. I suggest you get Leo to a vet for an examination as soon as possible. The longer you wait to seek treatment, the more likely he is to have permanent damage and/or lose vision. I would get him to a vet ASAP. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Poor Dingo ! These eye injuries are very painful ! It is advisable that you have him checked over, if nothing serious happened to the eye, he will likely need some pain relief over the next couple of days.

This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration or just general inflammation from a traumatic injury from playing with the sprinklers. If he is holding the eye open and has no discharge, then it maybe just infkammation. If there is a mucous discharge or he is holding the eye closed then it may have scratched the cornea and caused an ulcer. If that is the case he needs to be seen by a vet as soon as possible

I am sorry to hear about your dog. I would recommend taking him in to the vet as soon as possible, including the emergency vet if your vet isn't open. This could be corneal edema or a corneal ulceration. We could also possibly have trauma within the eye that we cannot see due to the cloudiness of the cornea, such as bleeding of retinal vessels or trauma to the optic nerve and the earlier the eye is treated the better the chance of healing and preserving vision.

Watch Egie for any signs that the eye itself was injured such as squinting, redness to the sclera or excessive tearing. As long as the injury is only on the skin, your pup can probably heal on his own. If the eye itself is injured, havehim examined quickly. Have him wear an elizabethan collar at all times. Until the wound is healed, no more play dates. I am not familiar with Leucillin but as long as it is safe for the eyes, you can apply the ointment for the next 1- 2 days then stop. I hope this helps.
