My Shih Tzu's eye is still bleeding after vets. Should I see a new one?

This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. At this point given she has not improved, I would recommend you consider having her evaluated by a veterinary ophthalmologist who can recommend further. Bleu has such pretty eyes!! I would recommend a recheck with your vet now that some of the swelling and redness has resolved. There may be something additional going on that needs to be addressed, or perhaps she needs to receive a different type of eye drops. Be sure and ask your veterinarian to take a close look at Bleu’s eyelids-sometimes, especially in young growing dogs, the lower (and occasionally upper) eyelid can roll onwards and irritate the surface of the eye-This is called entropion and can require surgery to correct. I hope you are able to get Bleu’s eye redness resolved soon!

I don't think she needs to get to an emergency vet tonight but tomorrow you should have your vet recheck her. Continue with her medications as directed and try to keep her quiet. You can ice the incision for 5 minutes 2-3 times per day until you get her to the vet. That might help.

Please ocntact your vets office for a recheck or arrange for a second opinion - such severe weakness is very concerning and must be treated by a vet as soon as possible. Blood tests to check for internal medical causes such as liver disease would be recommended at this stage given his lack of recovery

Her veterinarian may prescribe an eye medication to help or even check the eye for a scratch across the surface. The sutures could have irritated her eye a bit. In the meantime, place an E-collar on her to prevent her from scratching and causing self trauma. I hope this information helps!

Hello, sorry to hear about Lincoln. Protecting the eye from further trauma by placing an e-collar on would be something you can do without seeing a vet. However, eye injuries can be very dangerous and if youre at all able to have him evaluated, sooner would be better than waiting until tomorrow.
