My dog's eye popped out. Can a vet put it back in? Is it urgent?

I'm very concerned that Bruno's eye was coming out of its socket, and the red color could be due to the initial cause of the eye coming out or from you pushing it back in. This can be caused by trauma, a head injury, or a shallow eye socket. He has to see a vet immediately for this problem even though you have pushed the eye back in, which I would never recommend doing yourself again. This would have been very painful for him, and you may have accidentally done damage to the eye, socket, and tissue, which as I said could be the reason why the eye is so red now. This is not a procedure that is ever recommended for owners to do, expect in extreme circumstances such as being hours away from a vet, no water or saline available, you and the dog are stranded, etc. In addition, there is a chance he could lose his sight from this prolapse, and his vision needs to be evaluated right away. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. I am so glad Buckshot came home. It is hard to tell what happened to him while he was away from home but that injury looks pretty serious and needs to be examined by a vet as soon as possible. He could have injured it a number of ways. The big concern, is if he was struck by a vehicle he may have further injuries that are not visible to you. An impact can cause serious internal injuries that may not cause immediate death or notable Illness to an untrained person but are serious nonetheless. Please, get Buckshot examined by a vet as soon as you can. Better safe than sorry. It’s too bad our dogs can’t tell us what they have been through. I hope everything is minor and he heals up quickly.

This looks like a swelling of Poppy's conjunctiva as opposed to the eye itself. It could be due to an allergic reaction or infection such as conjunctivitis. She will need eye drops and antinflammatories to settle this down so go to your vet as soon as you can. In the mean time pressing a cooled tea bag on the outside of the eye can provide some relief.

Oh no, poor Bella! Unfortunately this can happen in certain breeds of dogs that have a shorter than normal muzzle. You need to get her into a vet right away for this. I would recommend getting Duke to the veterinarian ASAP. If he has a penetrating foreign body to the eye, puncture, or even a deep scratch he could potentially become blind in that eye without quick intervention. I wounds are often very painful and he may require pain medication, as well as topical medication and or systemic antibiotics. But Duke really needs to be evaluated by veterinarian in person to see what type of injury he has sustained. Good luck, I hope he’s back to normal soon. The best thing you can do for Itchy Cotrich until you can take him to the vet is to put an e-collar (cone) on him to prevent him from scratching the mass and eye, as this could make matters much worse. It is a little difficult to tell from the photo, but it looks like one of Charlie's eyes is looking upwards and is protruding slightly. This can be caused by damage to the nerves or muscles that control the movement of the eye, glaucoma, or a mass behind the eye. i recommend having Charlie seen by a vet as soon as possible, as eye conditions are frequently painful and can quickly turn into emergencies. In the meantime, you can get him an E-collar or "cone" to make sure that he does not scratch or rubt he eye, causing further trauma. I hope this helps and that all is well with Charlie!
