My dog's eye has a bump, scab fell off. Should I be concerned?

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Bumps on eye-lids can be cysts, but they can also be other masses like tumors. For this reason getting it checked is recommended. In the mean-time, I would check for squinting, moving away from your hand when you go to pet him on that side of the face, redness/blueness/whiteness of the eye-ball itself that is different from the other eye, or scratching/pawing at the eye. If any of these are occuring, then I would take Marley to a vet. If he isn't too concerned about it, and isn't squinting or moving away from you, and is only minimally pawing at it, then I would recommend getting an E-collar (you can pick one up from any emergency clinic without an appointment as it is now late in Australia), to prevent ongoing trauma to the eye which can get much much worse with scratching. I would then get Marley to your vet in the morning. Best of luck with Marley.

It may be a cyst or local infection/irritation. Monitor for rapid change or growth, discharge or bleeding as well as discomfort. Ideally, he can be examined by your veterinarian to diagnose the underlying cause and provide the appropriate treatment. If he is pawing or rubbing at it, place an e-collar (cone) on him until he sees the vet.

I actually think this looks more like a chalazion, or a blocked/infected eyelid gland. Sometimes these resolve without specific treatment and warm compresses can help, but other times surgery is necessary. A traumatic wound is possible but probably wouldn't be raised. If it still does not seem to be resolving in the next few days I'd recommend seeing your veterinarian.

It definitely looks irritated and like there could be a possible cyst or growth there. I would have it examined by a vet in person so that it can be looked at more closely and treated as needed, especially since it's by the eye, bothersome, and been there a while. In addition, placing an Elizabethan (cone) collar on Midnight is a good idea as this will stop her from being able to paw at it and may reduce the irritation to it some.

If she has been scratching more than usual and scratching at that area, have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. It is possible that Ganja has something like an infection or perhaps a sty on the eyelid. It sounds like the lesion is getting worse. Sometimes the body will heal this on its own, if it ruptures or you notice continuous oozing, pain or excess of redness, have her examined by the veterinarian. If it does not go away completely within a few days, also have her examined by the veterinarian. Protect the area from rubbing or scratching with an Elizabethan collar. You can gently apply a warm, not hot, compress to the area twice a day. This may help. It’s always best to play it safe so use your best judgment. Hello, My name is Dr. Elizabeth and I am happy to help. That may be a sty but it could also be an infected hair follicle, blocked pore or other type of infection. If it's still there on Monday or if Caesar is still rubbing at it, I recommend to have him examined. In the mean time, have Caesar wear an elizabethan collar at all times. If he accidently scratches his eye while rubbing at it, he'll need to go to the vet before Monday. Have him wear the collar at all times. You can apply a warm compress to it every couple of hours for 10 minutes. This might help it to come to a head. If it ruptures, gently clean it with water and protect it from rubbing.
