Why does my dog eat little, drink, act restless, and eat grass?

Given the symptoms described, your dog may have GI distress. Hello, this could be due to a number of issues, including her known heartworm disease if she is symptomatic and it's making her feel unwell. A few common reasons for a young otherwise healthy dog to have a waxing and waning appetite with no other symptoms would be a low grade chronic pancreatitis, mild IBD (inflammatory bowel disease), or a food sensitivity. If you haven't done a complete bloodwork panel with your vet, I suggest starting there. Your vet can discuss a feeding trial with prescription food - I would recommend trying an easily digestible food that's easy on the stomach such as I/D or EN (there are lots of acceptable brands of prescription food, these are just a few common ones), and if that doesn't help then do a trial of a limited ingredient or hydrolyzed diet for food sensitivity. By eating the grass it will tickle their throat on the way down and usually cause them to vomit up whatever is upsetting their stomach. If Riley isn't vomiting or has a decreased appetite, then he is likely just bored. I would however refrain him from eating grass, to prevent him from having any vomiting episodes. This could indicate a mild case of stomach irritation called gastritis. Dogs have no need for chlorophyll. If she's eating a balanced commercial diet and absorbing it Chloe should be getting all the vitamins and minerals and needs. As long as Chloe is eating, drinking and acting normally you could watch her dog now. But if she stops eating, vomits blood or coffee-ground looking material, or seems painful she should get checked out by her veterinarian

Poor girl. Her repeated swallowing behavior and eating grass suggest that Snickers is likely nauseous. She may have eaten something that upset her stomach or may even have something caught in her throat. See if you can get her to open her mouth so you can take a peek towards the back of her throat for any foreign objects. IF she does not allow you to do so and otherwise seems fine, just let her rest tonight and get her examined in the morning by your regular vet if the problem continues. I have seen this a lot in dogs that have a stick stuck to the roof of their mouth, so a foreign object is highly suspected here. If Kiyah is otherwise acting ok and has continued to eat and drink normally, you could continue to monitor her. Additionally, you could offer her a bland/easily digestable diet such as boiled chicken/hamburger and white rice to help settle her stomach. If these symptoms continue or Kiyah begins vomiting, refusing food, or becomes lethargic I would recommend having her seen by your veterinarian.
