My dog's ears are still bruised a month after neuter. Is it okay?

Bella likely is suffering from ear mites or a fungal or bacterial infection of the ear canal. This is something very uncomfortable for Bella and because she vigorously scratches the ear it is bruised. Your veterinarian will examine the ear with an otoscope to ensure that the ear drum is intact, and possibly take a swab of the ear canal and will look at it under the microscope to find out which type infection is causing the problem. This is important as each cause is treated with a different kind of medication.

Poor Snowball! I'd just leave the bruise be, it should heal on it's own. Definitely monitor it, and if it gets bigger, a bump forms, or it doesn't start getting better (as it starts to heal, it should start to turn blue or purple, then greenish, then yellow-brown), then I would have her seen by a vet. This looks like ecchymosis/petechia that are usually from a clotting disorder or vasculitis (inflammation of the blood vessels). This can be a serious issue and I think you need to take her to the vet for an exam as soon as you can get her an appointment. Check her gums and her belly for any more signs of bruising like this. I really don't think this is due to trauma.

Hello. That is a lot of bruising, but it just indicates that there was some subsurface capillary bleeding. This can occur in any surgery, but most often is the result of too much activity too soon after surgery. Try to confine Barklie a little more, by keeping him indoors & leash walking only for another week. If he is licking a lot, you may have to put an Elizabethan collar on him for a week or so so everything can heal. You can pick up the collars at most pet stores or even Tractor Supply if one is near you. Hi, I have seen bruising like this myself in several cases and in itself is not a cause of concern as long as Ollie is eating, drinking, and seems comfortable. You could apply a cream on the bruised area, such as Arnicare twice a day (Arnica cream), skipping the area where the stitches are and obviously keep an eye on him. If he should be quiet, uncomfortable, not eating, I would recommend to have him checked over, if not just keep him home and monitor him. He may have banged into his willy when he hit the ladder causing this bruising, or it could have been when he was in for his operation. It should settle with time, if it diesnt look swollen i would keep an eye on it and apply some arnica cream.

Yes, bruising can be very normal as long as it is not severe or progressive. This amount of bruising is normal and usually caused by little vessels in the skin that bleed during surgery. I would monitor the area closely and the bruising should start to improve over the next few days.
