My dog has an ear infection. Why is he panting and restless at night?

If this is the case and his presumed ear infection responds to the ear drops then the expectation is that these signs you describe will improve. It's probably an ear infection, often it cannot be seen from the outside. Ear infections are very common in dogs, it is usually caused by either yeast or bacterial disease. the treatment is usually simple and straightforward, you will have to take him to the vet and get the ears checked, then a prescription ear drops will be prescribed according to the infectious agent. If the ear is droopy and she is shaking her head she probably has an ear infection. I would call your Vet when they open and discuss having prednisone and/or another pain medication prescribed until he is more comfortable. If he is still reacting to the medication like that in a few days then he may be having a reaction to it and another ear drop might need to be tried. I hope this helps and I wish Hypno the best!

Antibiotics can cause an upset stomach leading to a decreased appetite, but I'm concerned that it's excessive and Simba has other symptoms going on. If the ear infection is severe, it could cause these symptoms but I can't say for certain without seeing him in person. I'd take him into a vet immediately to get checked out.
