My dog is dull and weak after stomach medicine. What should I do?

Please call your vet and give him/her an update and schedule a recheck. Your vet might need to run some blood-work and repeat x-rays to try to diagnose his problem. If it has been a week with no improvement than the medication is not working and your vet needs to determine the cause. He may need some fluids to treat dehydration since he has not been eating and is so weak. Please call your vet right away and discuss.

Good on you for taking Blessy into a vet right away. She will be lethargic from the vomiting and diarrhea. She sounds pretty sick, keep an eye on her for now. If you are concerned she is very weak, have her seen by a vet again today.

I am sorry to hear Violet is not doing well. I would recommend you take Violet to your vet for a checkup at this point. She has some concerning symptoms and would benefit from a thorough physical exam. Your vet may also recommend X-rays and bloodwork depending on what they find. She may have a gastrointestinal problem, an infection, even liver or kidney disease could cause the symptoms you have noticed.

The injection is called Cerenia, if this didn't help then you must take him back to the vet for a blood test and xray/ulrasound, he might be suffering from either a foreign body in the GI tract or severe gastrointestinal infection.

I highly recommend bringing Smokey back to the veterinarian and have her re-evaluated. I get concerned when puppies are very weak and not really taking the medications well. If your dog does not start showing improvement after 48 hours of being on the medication and/or if his symptoms persist, then you should take him back to your veterinarian for a recheck. He may need additional diagnostics like blood work, X-rays, and/or a parvo test (depending on his vaccination status). He may also need supportive care like nausea medication and fluid therapy. Fluid in the abdomen is usually caused by either heart failure, low blood protein levels, or cancer. Blood work should be done to check protein levels. A follow up appointment with your veterinarian soon is important, and more work up should be done to identify the cause. Blood work, urinalysis, and ultrasound are the steps I would usually take is a case such as Major to find the problem and develop the best treatment options.
