Why is my dog lethargic, vomiting, drooling after vet visit?

It sounds like your dog is sick. The drooling can be due to nausea, and the lethargy, vomiting, anorexia, and diarrhea could be due to a severe GI illness, eating something rotten, pancreatitis, or a foreign body. I would take your dog into a vet right away for an exam, he sounds quite ill with all these symptoms, and he needs to be medically treated ASAP.

This is typically a very effective medication for vomiting, and if there is still vomiting in the face of this, I would definitely recommend getting her back into the vet for re-examination. I would strongly recommend x-rays and blood work. Depending on the level of dehydration, hospitalization with IV fluids would likely be useful particularly if the vomiting is going to continue. I'm sorry Sam is so sick! Excessive drooling and lethargy are side effects of Cerenia, and those certainly can be causing the symptoms you are seeing now. I would monitor him for now, and watch out for additional side effects such as fever, convulsion, panting, and muscle tremors. Should you see any of those signs, I would rush Sam into an ER vet immediately. Otherwise, wait until the morning to get the blood test results. Just to add, I'm always an advocate of seeing a vet just to be safe. You need to take Tank back to the vet as there may be a more serious problem lurking, such a possible partial or even complete gastric or intestinal blockage. If the "vomiting pill" (cerenia?) is not working there is a mechanical obstruction possible. Since Tank is a young dog, he may have swallowed a toy or something that cannot be readily digested. In order to find out whether there is an obstruction the vet will need to do some x-rays, first without contrast medium, and then possibly with contrast medium if there is a serious suspicion of an obstruction. If Tank does not have a complete set of vaccinations, then there is also a possibility that he is suffering from a parvo infection. Pancreatitis is a further possible cause. Please take Tank back for a recheck.

Poor Dough Boy! At this point, he should have an abdominal x-ray to make sure there isn't an obstruction, especially if the shot she gave him was an anti-vomiting injection and he is still vomiting. If the x-ray is negative than he should also have blood-work done to look for abnormalities as it is concerning that he is vomiting, lethargic, and losing weight. Besides, pushing the pill all the way back in his throat and holding his mouth closed until he swallows, there isn't much more you can do to administer an oral medication unless he would eat it in a treat. These are not side effects of the medications, these are symptoms related directly to the medical condition that caused the vomiting in the first place. if by tomorrow you see no improvement you will need to take her back to the vet.
