My newly adopted dog has a dry nose. Can I use Vaseline or is it serious?

You could try using a small amount of Vaseline or Bag Balm on this area to help with the dryness - some dogs will try to rub off any topical medications that might be applied, unfortunately, so I can't say if he will leave these alone or not. Normally, using only a small amount is best, so that it doesn't feel sticky and strange to the dog :)

I see a small superficial abrasion on the right side of her nostril. This can be caused by the dry nose situation that you described earlier or from a traumatic event. You can try applying either Vasoline or Bag balm on her nostrils to keep them moisturized. Vaseline is ok to use in limited amounts. We don’t want him licking and consuming much. If you choose to use it please apply a small amount and then feed him or otherwise entertain him until it soaks in. Since she has been under the weather for a week or so I think it's a good idea for her to be seen by your vet. She may just be adjusting to her new environment and missing her friends, but any abrupt change in behavior is a good reason for her to be examined. It could signal a developing condition or oncoming illness and by getting her seen now you'll be on top of whatever is happening before it progresses.

Poor Cody! The dry nose is likely a result of being through so much, he has likely been very dehydrated and I suppose the nose has been the least of the body's concern. You could apply an unscented moisturiser such as aqeous cream to the nose, rub it in well a few times a day and ir should help return the moisture. If the nose gets so dry that it cracks visit your vet.

Congratulations on your new pet! I can see the small pink, raised lump on Cora's chin. This can be caused by a localized skin infection or a small growth. I recommend keeping a close eye on it, and keeping the area clean. You can get Cora an E-collar or "cone" if she is scratching the area. If the area grows in size, Cora appears bothered by it, or it begins to have discharge or bleeding, Cora should be seen by a vet. You can apply a small amount of neosporin a few times a day after cleaning the area. I hope this helps and that all is well!
