My dog drank Epsom salt water. Is it an emergency? What to do?

No she/he should be fine if it was just salt. It takes a lot of salt ingestion to cause any immediate concerns in pets (salt intoxication). So if it was only a small amount you don't have anything to worry about. Just make sure to offer her/him some water and access to water at all times, so if she/he needs to they can rebalance their body by diluting out the salt. Also I would refrain from giving him/her any people foods that are high in salt for the next 24 hrs, only regular dog food. If by chance your pet did ingest a large amount of salt then watch out for signs of trouble which include ataxia (drunken walk), panting, mental dullness, and vomiting. If seen then it is best to take him/her to your vet immediately for treatment.

I would just keep an eye on him as the ingestion of the bath water may have caused a bit of GI upset. You can pick up his food for a few hours and then offer a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice to help soothe minor GI upset. If the vomiting continues, he can't keep anything down, becomes lethargic, or has bloody stool or vomit, then seeking veterinary care ASAP is best to make sure there isn't something more serious ongoing.

Ellie would need to eat 45 to 70 grams of salt in order to be at risk of a serious toxicity. Anything over 90 grams could be fatal. 380 milligrams is far below a dangerous level for a dog of her size. The amount she ate may cause some gastrointestinal upset and excess thirst though. Consider withholding food for 12 to 24 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Monitor for lethargy, tremors, ataxia (wobbly gait), or seizures. Symptoms typically appear within 3 hours of ingestion. The amounts of peanuts may put her at risk of developing pancreatitis due to the fat content. Monitor for vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, loss of appetite or abdominal pain. Have her examined by your veterinarian if necessary.

It's unlikely that a tiny bit of rock salt will affect a dog as big as Loki significantly, however salt poisoning can definitely be a big problem in dogs, and the only way to know for sure is to test the blood levels of sodium to see if they are significantly elevated. If hypernatremia (elevated sodium) is the problem, dogs need aggressive intravenous fluid therapy in order to recover, so I would urge you to get this checked right away if you do suspect salt poisoning.

She may be fine, but I will give you some thinks you can do for her. First, give her a small bowl of milk. This may help neutralize any bleach present. Then check her mouth, see if you can see any redness in her mouth. If you do, she will need to see a vet. Otherwise, keep an eye on her.
